Accessibility

Cat Says Hi aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA across the photo tool, the guides, and these site pages. This statement lists what the site does today, where it still falls short, and how to tell us about a barrier. It is not a formal audit or certification.
What the site does
- Keyboard access: every control works from the keyboard, guide pages offer a skip link to the main content, and the compact menu and optional note use native expand-and-collapse behaviour.
- Visible focus: a high-contrast outline marks the focused element across the app, the guides, and the site pages.
- Text alternatives: photos and figures carry alternative text, decorative marks are hidden from assistive technology, and annotated guide figures repeat their labels as text beside the drawing.
- Structure and feedback: pages use semantic headings and landmarks, form fields have explicit labels, errors appear as text, and results announce their status without relying on colour alone.
- Reduced motion: the site honours the prefers-reduced-motion setting, disabling smooth scrolling, animation, and transitions.
- Zoom and reflow: layouts are designed to reflow from wide screens down to a 320-pixel width and remain usable at 200% zoom, where the header folds into an expandable menu.
Known limitations
- Photo readings are generated by an AI model and are not reviewed before they appear, so the wording and clarity of a result can vary.
- Illustrative guide images carry a short alternative description rather than a full description of every drawn detail.
- Some linked sources lead to external documents, including PDFs, whose accessibility we cannot control.
Report a barrier
If something on this site blocks you — a control you cannot reach, text you cannot read, or a result you cannot follow — email hello@catsayshi.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us which page you were on and what happened, and we will look into it.
