What does Cat Says Hi do, and what can’t it do?
Cat Says Hi reads a cat photo you choose and describes visible traits — coat, markings, and posture — before offering possible breed cues and everyday care ideas for grooming, play, and familiar routines. A photo cannot confirm breed or ancestry, and the tool does not assess symptoms, diagnose conditions, or recommend treatment. The About page explains the scope.
Why does a reading say “possible” or “some details are hard to see”?
A photo shows one moment, in one light, from one angle. When an image leaves room for doubt the result says so: breed suggestions stay “possible breed cues”, and uncertain or limited views are labelled rather than smoothed over. There is no accuracy percentage to quote — treat a reading as a starting point for looking at your own cat, not a verdict.
What kind of photo works best?
A calm photo in soft, even light with the whole cat in view gives the most to work with, and the cat can pause or leave at any time. The photo guide covers gentle ways to photograph a cat’s coat and posture.
What happens to my photo and note when I submit?
Nothing is sent until you choose a photo and select Analyze. Your browser resizes the photo, then sends it with your optional note through this site’s Worker to Qomza’s AI service, together with request metadata such as your connecting IP, preferred language, and a request identifier. Qomza’s gateway keeps each lookup — photo, note, metadata, and the result — in its records, and these are not deleted automatically. Does Cat Says Hi cost anything?
No — the browser tool is free to use.
Why did my upload or reading fail?
Common causes: the file is not a JPG, PNG, or WebP (HEIC photos need exporting or sharing as a JPEG first); the photo could not be resized under the limit — the browser shrinks it to at most 1,600 pixels on the longest edge and about 7 MB before sending; the lookup ran past its 45-second limit; the same network address reached the best-effort limit of 10 lookups per 60 seconds; or the connection dropped. Your photo stays selected, so you can adjust something and try again.
Can I use a reading as veterinary advice or proof of breed?
No. A reading describes visible details and possibilities only — it cannot confirm breed, assess symptoms, or stand in for a veterinarian. For health concerns, contact a veterinarian; the vet-visit notes guide suggests what to record beforehand.
